waverly commons lot 5This new house located in an established SE Portland neighborhood blends modern elements with timeless design. Maximizing daylight and creating a casual open floor plan for a growing family were the main goals for the project. The simple rectangular footprint stacked on all floors creates the setting for an energy efficient envelope and allows for tight waterproofing and air sealing. The building is fairly thin, just 25 feet wide, with the long part of the building oriented north/south to maximize passive day lighting with some passive heating and natural ventilation as well.
